Alex Horton is an Army SOF combat Veteran who spent ten years on active duty within the Special Operations community, during which she led the unit’s Cultural Support Team program and deployed on numerous combat cycles with the 75th Ranger Regiment, and other Tier 1 organizations. She played a key role in the selection of women within the Special Operations community and assisted in policy changes regarding women’s integration into male-centric Special Operations teams.

Alex went on to attend USC as a Tillman Scholar and gained an MS in Organizational Psychology where she specialized in gender equity initiatives, and LGBTQ advocacy. After suffering from a multitude of mental & physical ailments, for several years after leaving the service, Alex sought treatment outside of the VA system. She found peace and healing through plant-based medicines, breathwork, writing, yoga, and meditation. Alex now works as a leadership, human performance, and psychedelic integration coach. She supports the Heroic Hearts project as an integration coach and supports Veteran healing retreats with a focus on the minority Veteran community. They are also currently pursuing their Oregon psilocybin facilitator certification to bring more equitable access to these healing modalities. In addition, Alex has revitalized her passion as a writer and will be attending Sarah Lawrence’s MFA program in the Fall to foster a deeper connection to their poetry and prose.
